XLRI-Jamshedpur to Organize Management Festival, 'Ensemble 2008'
Ensemble 2008
On November 15-23, 2008
Theme: "Magis: Delivering Excellence"
XLRI School of Business and Human Resources, one of the oldest institutes of management in the country, is celebrating the Sixtieth Year of its establishment this year. The year-long celebrations kick-off with a week-long inaugural ceremony from November 15th to 23rd, 2008.
November 15th and 16th will see the Institute hosting its Annual Alumni Week-end, during which XLRI alumni from across the years will come together in Jamshedpur for two days of discussions and re-unions. This year, the theme for the Alumni Week-end is 'Sustainability'.
The week will culminate in Ensemble 2008, the flagship management festival of XLRI. Ensemble, as the name suggests, was started to bring together management students from across B-schools both in India and abroad. It is now a thriving melange of case studies, business plan contests, paper presentations and strategy games. The previous year's edition of Ensemble, with the theme 'Advantage India: The Bird of Gold Spreads its Wings', saw over 300 participants from the best B-schools in India battle for top honours and prize money aggregating to over INR Eight Lakhs.
The theme for Ensemble 2008 is 'Magis: Delivering Excellence'. As XLRI celebrates its sixtieth year, its commitment to the principle of Magis is becoming ever more important. In today's ever-changing environment, it is only by delivering excellence that organizations can ensure their own survival. Be it in constant innovation or in ethical decision-making, organizations will have to commit to excellence in all spheres. Thus, Ensemble will, over a period of three days, showcase events based on the theme of Magis.
The major events of Ensemble 2008 are the Idea Summit and the flagship game, Discessio Imperators. The Idea Summit is a panel discussion where eminent panellists from all walks of life share their experiences with B-school students. The confirmed panellists this year are Mr. Prabhakar Valivati, Managing Director, RelQ Software Private Ltd. and Mr. Raghunath Medge, one of the Mumbai Dabbawallahs. Talks are also on with the Railway Minister, Mr. Laloo Prasad Yadav, who will soon confirm his attendance. This year, in keeping with XLRI's commitment to promoting entrepreneurial spirit on campus, the panel discussion will be based on the theme of 'Entrepreneurship'. Prominent economists will also be coming to campus to take part in discussions and share their valuable opinions on the current financial situation.
In keeping with XLRI's image as a B-school run by students, the events of Ensemble 2008 have all been organized by the numerous committees on campus. The games vary across all business verticals, and enthusiasts of Finance, Marketing, Operations and Human Resources will all find something for them at Ensemble 2008. For the first time, prominent names from the manufacturing industry will be among those partnering Ensemble. Apart from the management events, there will also be events for adventure-lovers, budding entrepreneurs and quizzing enthusiasts. The preliminary rounds of these events will soon kick-off online. Students from the top twenty B-schools of India can take part in Ensemble 2008.
