RESUME DEVELOPMENT

Key Elements There are five key elements to a resume:

1. HEADING : A heading should include your name, address and telephone number. Placement of the heading (left-hand side, centered or right-hand side) is a personal preference and it can vary from resume to resume.

2. OBJECTIVE : The objective should be short and precise. It should include what you expect to do and the results you plan on producing.

3. EDUCATION : The highest level degree should be listed first and it should be accompanied by year of passing and college?s name.

4. WORK HISTORY : This section should include the title of the position you held, the name company, location (city and state), years employed and a brief description of the position. Give the broad aspects of your position; the details can be discussed in an interview.

5. SKILLS AND ABILITIES : This area focuses on accomplishments. Try that all accomplishments should support the objective. You can also mention skills which you have. For example : If you are a MBA graduate and are trying to get a job in a research firm than your skill can be knowing SPSS tool and other tools and software package used in research.

Resume Tips

Following are some tips to assist you in preparing your resume:  

· Make sure that your resume looks professional. It is good to be creative while developing resume, but to certain extent. One should try to avoid colored papers, pictures etc. White and cream colored paper should be used in background.

· In case of fresher try to restrict your resume to two pages.

· Try to use words and margins in a way so that it is nice in visibility. 

· Keep your resume clear and concise. Take care not to misspell words and avoid using acronyms.

· For greater emphasis on skills and/or accomplishments, summarize them up front.

· Edit your resume many times to make it as effective as possible. Use a dictionary and thesaurus to improve word choice.  Some resume formats
